California Day 1

Jeremy's Grandma Shoemaker is in a rest home and her house was cleaned out.  All of the furniture was being kept in a storage unit.  Terry, Beth, Jason and Amber were going down with Terry's horse trailer to pick up the furniture.  It was decided that Sariah and Emily could travel with Jason and Amber and Jeremy, TJ and I traveled with  Terry and Beth.  Grandma Shoemaker owns a cabin in Alta, California and that is where we stayed for a week.  I'm doing the vacation in several posts.

We stopped for gas in Elko, Nevada.  Then we went over to the Walmart parking lot to have our lunch.  It was so hot that we made peanut butter sandwichs quickly and ate those and chips inside of the horse trailer and left within a half hour.

We were so excited to be able to stop at Grandpa and Pat Hooper's house in Sparks, Nevada.  They graciously fed us dinner and we visited for awhile.  From there it was about two hours to the cabin.

I have to say that I was impressed going through Donner's Pass.  It was my first time remembering going through.  I cannot believe that pioneers went through those mountains!!!  It looked absolutely crazy!!  They must have been made of some special stuff.  Especially the women who did it with their husbands!

Family Visiting From Texas

Brittany came with her kids for a week but Tyler was not able to come.  We spent the weekend in Heber to visit with her.  Emily is always glad when Clara comes as she is the cousin closest to her age.  We are always glad then Brittany is able to come visit.

Terry and Beth purchased a new tube to pull behind the boat.  It's nice that now more than a couple of kids can be pulled together.  They also bought a tower for their boat.  All the boys tired it out wake boarding.  I didn't because I always forget our swimsuits and they said the water was pretty cold.

Terry and Beth bought a new lawnmower so Jeremy and Josh decided to have a lawnmower race.

Memorial Day

We came back from Idaho on Sunday so on Memorial Day we went to visit the grave site of Jeremy's Grandpa Shoemaker.

I love how the cemetery's are decorated over Memorial weekend.  I drove by the American Fork Cemetary for years on the way to work and always enjoyed seeing it after Memorial Day.

Baird Family Reunion

We haven't been to the Baird family reunion in a few years.  We decided to make it a priority to go from now on.  I'm so glad we went!  I love going to my grandma's and seeing all of my aunts, uncles and cousins.  I don't talk much but I enjoy being around everyone.  I think that all of my cousins married awesome people!  Here are some pics!

There is always a fun game of bingo for all of the kids.

We cleaned and decorated my Grandpa's grave.  We sat around and told stories.  It was so nice and I miss him so much.  One of the stories was of Grandma and Grandpa meeting.  Grandma was born and living in England and was serving in WWII.  Grandpa was serving overseas.  Grandma was meeting some of her friends at the movies and they never showed up but she met Grandpa.  Grandpa went in to get a promotion and he had enough points to be able to go home.  So he told Grandma that if they wanted to get married they better do it because he was going home.

Graduations

In April my brother-in-law graduated from UVU.  In May Emily graduated from Kindergarten and my niece Bailey graduated High School!!  She is my parents oldest grandchild.  It's crazy to think that much time has passed.
